Dr. Steelsmith earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Spalding University in the School of Professional Psychology. She completed her post-doctoral internship at Green Line Wellness, a private psychology practice, working with adults with depression and anxiety disorders. Her pre-doctoral internship was completed at The Brook, a psychiatric hospital, working with adults and adolescents with addiction issues, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and relationship issues.
Dr. Steelsmith has also worked in crisis assessment and intervention at a local psychiatric hospital, in rural community mental health, and with the office of vocational rehabilitation, assessing potential clients for strengths, needs, and diagnostic clarification.
Dr. Steelsmith concentrates on treatment for women struggling with perinatal, reproductive health, general health issues, with a special focus in working with primary and secondary infertility. She also works with women and couples processing miscarriage and fetal/infant loss through prescribed termination. Her approach is a blended client-centered and psychodynamic approach, which is married with psychoanalytic theory and techniques when the client is interested in prolonged work.
